Installation of McAfee software for Windows fails with error: Installation Incomplete

  1. Open a command prompt as Administrator:
    1. Click Start, and in the search box type cmd.exe.
    2. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.
  2. At the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:net user administrator /active:yes
  3. Close the command prompt.
  4. Press the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys together.
  5. Click Log out or Sign out, to log off from of Windows.
  6. On the login screen, click the Administrator account and log on. The login process might take longer than usual to complete.

Try the installation again,  If the installation fails, continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Download and run the McAfee consumer product removal tool:

McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool(MCPR)  removes your existing McAfee product and ‘leftover’ files from previous installations that might cause installation problems.
IMPORTANT:

  • Always download a new copy of MCPR before each use.
    This ensures that you have the latest version, and that newer McAfee products can be successfully recognized.
  • MCPR cleans up only the components needed for reinstallation. It is not designed to clean up 100% of components.
  • Completing this step requires a restart.

Before you start:

  1. Download the MCPR tool.
  2. Double-click MCPR.exe.

  2. Cleanup unsuccessful: If you see this message, the cleanup did not go as planned,
  1. Restart your PC and run MCPR again.

  3. Restart your PC again.
  4. Attempt to reinstall your McAfee software.

If you enabled the built-in Administrator account while following the steps above, remember to disable it when your McAfee software is installed:

How to disable the administrator account:
  1. Press the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys together.
  2. Click Log out or Sign out, to log off from of the Administrator account.

McAfee Subscription Services provide non-stop protection with a minimum of effort from you. McAfee takes care of all tasks for you, such as virus definition updates, Engine updates, installation of product patches, renewals, and product upgrades.

Why do you use Auto-Renewal?
We implemented the Auto-Renewal service after a majority of our customers told us that they prefer to have their license renewed automatically, rather than having to manually re-purchase the subscription each year.

Auto-Renewal can be turned off at any time.

When will my subscription be renewed?
Your subscription will be automatically renewed 30 days before its expiration date at the current renewal rate. Your subscription will be billed to the credit card on file for your account.

What is your Auto-Renewal Policy?
To help you stay protected, before the end of each subscription period the following will happen:

  • We will email you to let you know that Auto-Renewal will take place.

  • We will charge your payment method on file the renewal term subscription price in effect at the time of renewal. (Pricing is subject to change.)

Can I turn Auto-Renew off or on?
Yes. You can turn on (enable) or turn off (disable) Auto-Renew at any time. Use the following steps:

Can I change the date when the renewal is processed?
Flexible Auto Renewal is available only for customers in North America. With Flexible Auto Renewal, you can choose any day between 30 days and 16 days prior to your subscription expiry date as a Renewal date.

If you are outside North America and you want the renewal to be processed earlier or later than 30 days prior to expiration, you can cancel the Auto-Renewal feature using the preceding steps, and renew manually at any time.

A full year will be added to your subscription, beginning on your current expiration date. You will not lose any time from your current subscription.

If you decide later that you would like to re-enroll in the Auto-Renewal program, you can do so online.

Will you remind me to renew if I cancel the Auto-Renewal option?

Yes. If you cancel your Auto-Renewal option, we will send you an email renewal notice before your expiration date. Instructions will be provided to renew your subscription online.

I extended my McAfee subscription with a McAfee eCard I got from a store, and now my Auto-Renewal is disabled. What happened?
This happens because the eCard is seen as a ‘one-time payment’. One-time payment methods cannot be used for Auto-Renewal. After the eCard is applied, Auto-Renewal is automatically turned off for your account.

  3. The download will start. The downloaded file will appear in the lower part of the browser window.
  1. Wait until the file is downloaded and run the file.
  2. In the Welcome window, click the End User License Agreement
  3. Read the agreement carefully, and if you agree to all of its terms, click Back.
  4. In the Welcome window, click Continue.
  5. Click the link to read the Kaspersky Security Network If you accept it, leave the check box selected and click Install. Please note that together with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2017, Kaspersky Internet Security 2017, Kaspersky Total Security 2017, Kaspersky Secure Connectionwill be installed to ensure protected connection to the Internet.
  6. You may get a notification from the User account control (UAC) service after you click To proceed with the installation, enter the administrator password and click Yes.
  7. Wait for the installation to complete. Make sure that the check box Run Kaspersky Internet Securityis selected and click Finish.

Current license subscription shows as expired even though it was renewed automatically and payment completed successfully

Check if you have received your 20-character activation code for renewed subscription. You will find it in the email from Kaspersky Online Store. It looks like this: XXXXX- XXXXX- XXXXX- XXXXX. If you no longer have your activation code, please contact Technical Support, they we will be assisting you further.

Now that you have your activation code, you can renew your license:

  1. Open the main window of your Kaspersky Lab application (double click the icon on Desktop).
  2. In the main window, click Subscription: expired(or License: expired) in the lower-right corner.

How to cancel subscription auto renewal

f you do not want your subscription license to be renewed automatically, please do the following:

  1. Follow this link to the Kaspersky Lab store.
  2. Enter your details as requested.
  3. Your order details will be displayed.
  4. Under subscription details, click Cancel.
  5. Click Continueon the next page.

You may see a pop-up notification saying The webpage you are viewing is trying to close the tab. Click Yes.

Your auto renewal has been stopped. Within 24 hours, you will receive the confirmiation message informing that the auto renewal has been cancelled. If you do not get this email, please check your spam or junk folder.

Your application will still be active until the subscription expiry date.

Forgot your password

If you forgot your password, use the guide below to reset it:

Step 1. Download the password reset tool

  1. Download the password reset tool.
  2. The downloaded file will appear in the lower part of the browser window. Click the arrow near the file name and select Show in folder.
  3. The folder with the downloaded archive will open.

Step 2. Extract the files

  1. Right-click the archive and select Extract all.
  2. In the window that opens click Extract.
  3. The window with the KLAPR.bat file will open. Restart your PC in the Safe Modeand run this file.

Step 3. Boot the computer in Safe Mode

Guide for Windows 7/8/8.1:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. During restart, press F8on the keyboard repeatedly.
  3. Boot options menu will appear.
  4. Select Safe Modeand press Enter.

Guide for Windows 10:

  1. Click Startand then select Settings.
  2. On the Settingsscreen, select Update & security.
  3. Click Recovery, go to the Advanced startupand click the Restart now
  4. On the Choose an optionscreen, click Troubleshoot.
  5. On the Troubleshootscreen, select Advanced options.
  6. Select Startup Settings.
  7. On the Startup Settingsscreen, click Restart.
  8. Wait until boot options appear on the screen and press F4to boot in Safe Mode.

Step 4. Use the tool to reset your password

  1. After your PC boots in Safe Mode, open the KLAPRfolder and run the bat file.
  2. When the black screen appears, press any key on the keyboard.
  3. You will see the “The operation completed successfully” notification.
  4. Press any key to close the tool’s window.
  5. Your password has been reset. Restart your computer.

If the solution does not help

If the Kaspersky Lab application still requests a password:

  1. Create a restore point. Click on your operating system to open the guide:
  2. After creating a restore point, run the removal tool:
    • Download the tool using the link in the articleand read the guide on how to use the tool.
    • If you downloaded the tools in a ZIP archive, extract the files. Double-click the file to run it.
    • Remove the applications detected by the tool. If you installed the 2015 version earlier, manually select Kaspersky Anti-Virus \ Internet Security \ Kaspersky Total Security 15.0.2.361in the drop-down list (as shown on the image below). Other product versions are detected automatically. Type the characters from the image and click Remove. Wait until the removal is completed and restart your PC.
  1. Install the application once again.

How to fix these issues:

Step 1. Create a restore point

Guide for Windows 10:

  1. Search for Create a restore point using the search bar and click on the result.
  1. In the System Properties window on the System Protection tab, click Create.
  1. Enter the description for the restore point and click Create.
  1. When the restore point is created, click Close.

Step 2. Make sure you have an activation code for your Kaspersky product

After you create a restore point, make sure you have a 20-digit activation code for your Kaspersky Lab product. You will need to enter it after you reinstall the application.

The code contains Latin letters and numerals divided into four groups of 5 characters.

If you bought the product offline in a box, you will see the activation code on the Quick Start Guide you find in the box.

If you bought the product online, the activation code will be in the e-mail from the online store.

If you lost the activation code, please contact Technical Support via My Kaspersky (requires registration).

Step 3. Delete the files of the earlier installed product versions

  1. Download the removal tool for Kaspersky Lab products.
  2. The downloaded file will appear in the lower part of the browser window. Run the file.
  1. The tool window opens. To continue, click I agree.
  1. The removal tool will search for remaining files of previously installed Kaspersky Lab products. For successful installation, please remove all detected files. Select the file from the list, type the code from the image and click Remove.

If you installed the 2015 version earlier, manually select Kaspersky Anti-Virus \ Internet Security \ Kaspersky Total Security 15.0.2.361 in the drop-down list. Other product versions are detected automatically.

  1. Click OKto restart your computer.
  1. Run the tool once again and delete the remaining application files if they were detected.

Step 4. Install the Kaspersky Lab product

If the issue persists or the error you receive is not present in the knowledge base, please create a request to Technical support via My Kaspersky (requires registration).

Download and Install Malwarebytes for Windows

To start using Malwarebytes on your Windows computer, download and install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows. Instructions are provided below to guide you through the installation process. These steps also apply to re-installation, or how to get back the program in case of an accidental uninstall.

  1. Download the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  2. Locate the setup file that was downloaded,mb3-setup-consumer-x.x.x.xxxx.exe.
    x.x.xxxx represents the version number
    In most cases, downloaded files are saved to the Downloads folder.
  3. Double-click the setup file.
  4. When User Account Control appears, click Yes.
    User Account Control requires permission to install Malwarebytes for Windows.
  5. Use the drop-down menu to select the setup language, then click OK.
    The setup language may default to the language set on your computer.
  6. To install Malwarebytes for Windows and agree to the End User License Agreement, click Agree and Install.
    To choose a different install location, click Advanced Options
  7. When your Malwarebytes for Windows installation is complete, click Finish to exit Setup.

When the installation is complete, Malwarebytes for Windows opens automatically and the recommended settings are enabled by default.

Activate Malwarebytes for Windows:

To activate Malwarebytes for Windows Premium, have your Premium license key ready and follow the instructions below.  Activating Malwarebytes for Windows enables Premium features such as Real-Time Protection. Your license key is located in the order confirmation email that was sent to you when you purchased your Premium subscription. If you do not have a Premium license key, visit the Malwarebytes website to purchase a Premium subscription. You must have Malwarebytes for Windows installed on your computer prior to activating your license key.

Activate your premium license:
  1. Open Malwarebytes for Windows.
  2. ClickActivate License.
  3. Click the text box under License key, then enter your key.
  4. If you have an ID, click the checkbox next to My license came with a License ID.
    Click the text box under License ID, then enter your ID.
    If you do not have an ID, leave the box unchecked and continue to step 4.
  5. Click Activate License.

When Malwarebytes for Windows Premium is activated, Malwarebytes | Premium is displayed in the top left corner of the window.

Find my premium license key:

To find your license key, log in to My Account or locate the confirmation email you received when you purchased your subscription.  If you did not purchase your license from the Malwarebytes store, request your license key from the merchant that processed your purchase.

My Account is a free service you can use to view and manage subscriptions you have purchased from Malwarebytes.  To create a login and find your license keys, see how to  Create and set up your My Account profile.

Login to my account:
  1. Open a web browser and go to My Account.
  2. Enter your email and password, then click SIGN IN.
  3. Click the Subscriptions
    The Subscriptions tab lists your Malwarebytes purchases and corresponding license keys.
Locate your confirmation email

Search your email’s inbox for a confirmation email containing your license key.  Confirmation emails are sent to your email address from no-reply@cleverbridge.com or no-reply@mail.malwarebytes.com.  If the confirmation email is not located in your inbox, check your spam/junk folder.

If you can’t log in to My Account or locate your confirmation email, contact Malwarebytes Support and request a copy of your license key.

Website blocked notification from Malwarebytes Anti- Malware Premium

If Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium has blocked a malicious website, you can configure Web Exclusions to bypass the detection and access the website.  However, accessing a malicious website can result in an infection on your computer, and as such, we recommend you only exclude websites and applications you are familiar with.

When a malicious website is blocked, as depicted below, you may have encountered a domain, IP address, or process that is suspicious or known to contain malware.

Configuration web exclusions:
  1. Open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. To the left, click Exclusions
  4. On the Web Exclusions screen, see the three following options:
    1. Click Add IP to exclude an IP address.
    2. Click Add Domain to exclude a website.
    3. Click Add Process to exclude an application process.

Add IP
  1. In the Add IP Exclusion window, enter the IP address.
  2. Click OK.
Add Domain
  1. In the Add Domain Exclusion window, enter the website address.
  2. Click OK.

  2. Click the process, then click Open.

If you’re unable to connect to a specific website, there’s a chance the issue exists on the website itself and not on your computer.  You may want to avoid using the website or report the issue.
